The pictures are nice and clear, manual focusing is simple and with an aperature of f/2 low light pictures are so easy to take! The drawback is the noise the lens makes on auto focus. I do not use AF extremely frequently simply because I’d rather do it myself, but if you’re into AF this sounds like a bee or a hornet trapped in a box. That’s the only negative about this lens.

Although this lens is not perfect, it’s lightweight and does a fairly good job. Using it on a Canon 5D, it takes good landscape and architectural pictures. Its size is amazing in its compactness and lightness. It is fairly sharp from edge to edge and has distance indicators meaning one can set the lens to manual and use it with preset hyperfocal distance. The lens itself is noisy and with out USM, it isn’t as smooth in focusing as a more expensive lens. But for the cost, it’s highly recommended for those days when carrying a heavier lens just isn’t an option.

I am loving the 130 just as a lot. The photos I get from this digital camera are incredible, and that’s on Car mode. Loving the Fisheye and Miniature settings too. Of course the thing I adore most is the optical zoom (on this model, it’s 12x)! I also like that the camera takes AA batteries. I’ve a DSLR as well but this digital camera will be my go to digital camera, much like the 110 was. Like I said, you can use the Auto mode, but you can utilize manual settings as soon as you begin feeling much more confident.

I looked everywhere and no one had it in stock yet. Then amazon got it a couple days later and I ordered it. Proper away I thought it looked great. Excellent digital camera and ideal in case you want something in between a fancy, do everything digital camera and one which you just wish to take out for a night on the town or hiking. I definately agree which you ought to read thru the (cough) 180 page manual. Which is only available on disk. It took me only a couple of hours to learn all the basics and have fun with all of the cool functions. like fish eye and sepia. It even has a excellent function that allows you to produce panoramic pics with your pc. Superb pictures. So, overall a winner for me.

I ordered two cameras, this one and also the Panasonic ZS7 Lumix, because of the mixed reviews for this camera. I am returning the Panasonic. For the reviewer who has the obsession with the lens and the shadow, the Lumix has the same lens, actually I did not find a point and shoot with a good range that did not have a lens that expanded when the digital camera was turned on. Intuitive function. no view finder, but not a large deal the screen is really helpful to that end. In fairness, I would mention that the optical zoom is only 4x and I might go with a higher optical if I had it to do over again.
